The recently constructed Silverdale Mall is now operational, with D&H Steel supplying and installing the steel for the three levels of parking and retail space, roof structure and glazed stairwells. Site Supervisor Brett Carroll and Site Manager Nick Yakas, alongside Farmers Silverdale Construction Manager Graham Keogh, led the D&H Steel team on a complicated build with several challenges to navigate.
The design of the building includes an impressive saw-tooth roof structure set at multiple striking angles. “It’s a stunning building, it certainly looks the part,” says Graham.
Graham commended D&H Steel for helping to overcome a few challenges on the project, which was set on a tricky slope and made for a difficult site on which to manoeuvre large steel beams.
“The architecture of the building made for a complex project and we did encounter some challenges on the way,” says Graham. “However, I commend Nick Yakas and Brett Carroll on their prompt and practical approach to problem solving. If something wasn’t quite working as planned, we’d do a quick drawing amongst ourselves of what it would look like, and the solution would get done smoothly and quickly.”
